Linton Elks Lodge Linton Lodge and South West District Drug Awareness Chairman Troy Jerrell Hello, One thing that I tell everyone during our indoctrinations is that I am very proud of what the Elks does nationally and locally for drug awareness. Locally we are very proud we were able to have assisted the Linton Police Department in getting their first ever D.A.R.E. program started at the Linton School. They initially started in the 5th grade level and are now teaching the 7th grade as well. In an effort to help get the information out to parents and care takers of the dangers and warning signs of drug abuse. We also utilize a drug awareness trailers during the 4th of July festivities here in Linton. Speaking of parents, you are instrumental in the battle against drugs by being aware of what you child is doing and who they are hanging around with. Most often the early warning signs are there but we sometime either do not recognize them or try not to believe it. As I tell many people in my speeches I give listen to that little voice in the back of your head because most often it is right. By knowing the early warning signs of drug abuse you may save your child and yourself a lifetime of grief. Below you will see some information from Grand Lodge on some of the things we are involved in to help fight and educate in drug abuse. One thing we are very proud of is our comic book as seen below. If you are interested in any of these please let me know. If you are a school teacher and would like material, again please feel free to contact me. Lets all due are part in educating about the hazards of drug abuse, Troy R. Jerrell
